Does 2016 Subaru Impreza Bumper Need to be Removed to Install EcoHitch
Question:
Hello, Just wondering about the installation of the ecohitch on a 2016 subaru wagon. The instructions seem pretty straight-forward, but... Is it really necessary to remove the bumper fascia? It seems as though the hitch could be positioned and mounted without removing the bumper. Thanks,

There are actually 2 different methods to installing the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7211 on your 2016 Subaru Impreza; Version 1 that requires bumper removal, and Version 2 that requires hole enlargement.
You can physically lift the hitch into place, yes, but the hardware is a little different when it comes to the install. If you don't want to enlarge any holes on your trunk pan you'll need to remove your bumper to gain access to the opening in your frame so you can drop the mounting hardware into place. If you don't mind enlarging the holes on your vehicle (they will actually be covered by the carpet liner in the trunk) then you can drop the hardware in from your trunk and avoid removing the bumper.
Attached is a link to the installation instructions for you to see how both methods are done.
If you let me know what you plan on using the hitch for I'd be more than happy to make additional recommendations!
