Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a Gooseneck Hitch and a 1999 Ford F-350

Question:

Looking at the different conversion options, it looks like the AM3100 is best for me if we plan on longer trips? I have a BandW turnover ball gooseneck hitch I use for my horse trailer and just purchased a 30foot fifth wheel travel trailer. Looking at the different products this one seems best fit for me. Please advise.

There is a good, better, best ladder in terms of adapters to tow a 5th wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch. The Ranch Hitch, while being probably the best of its type, falls under the good category.

What I recommend is the B&W Companion hitch # BWRVK3500 for a long bed or # BWRVK3400-5W for a short bed truck. The Companion hitches fit directly into the Turnover ball hole without the need for any other adapter.

Another option, and for the absolute best in adapter technology, I recommend a Reese Goose Box. The only catch is that the available Goose Boxes only work with certain trailer pin boxes. Pin box information is on a sticker or plate on the trailer pin box.

Goose Box # RP85FR fits Lippert 0719, 1621, and 1621HD and Fabex PB-600 Series pin boxes. And for Goose Box # RP94716-61301, it will fit Lippert 0115, 1116 and 1716 pin boxes.

I have included a link to an FAQ article on towing a 5th wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch.
