2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 Bike Rack Recommendation for Swing Away Adapter

Question:

Do you have a recommendation if you have 2 e bikes that each weigh about 53 lbs and have fenders and one bike is also a step through? Need a rack and a swing out attachment to be able to open rear doors on a 170 inch wheel base Sprinter van. Thanks

No, you do not want to use the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 with the Yakima BackSwing part # Y02483 because of that 2" solid shank requirement.

If your bike doesn't have a front fender then you can use the BackSwing with a rack like the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU84FR or NV 2.0 Base # BA22B. I really like the Kuat line of bike racks because they put a lot of thought into the designs so you get great quality and easy-to-use racks.

Attached are review videos of both for you to check out.

Since your bikes have fenders you'll want to use the Yakima BackSwing part # Y02483 with the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # HLY84FR. This bike is a frame mount so the arms ratchet over the top tube of the bike instead of on the wheel. You will also need an adapter bar like part # TH982XT for your step thru frame so the arm has something to make contact with. Check out the review video of the Sport Rider so get a good idea of how it works!
