Is Sliding Hitch Needed to Tow 5th Wheel RV With 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500

Question:

I have a 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 with the puck system. I want to tow a 5th wheel, but I don't know whether I need a fixed or a sliding 5th wheel hitch. I'm interested in the B&W Companion hitch.

Do you have a long or short bed truck?

Whether or not you need a sliding hitch will depend on the configuration of your truck and of the 5th wheel.

If you have a short bed truck, you'll typically need the # BWRVK3775 sliding version of the Companion to prevent the front of the 5th wheel from hitting rear of the truck cab during turns. However, there are a few exceptions to that rule.

• If your 5th wheel has the dished in, concave front edges and the 5th wheel manufacturer has SPECIFICALLY
stated that a sliding hitch isn't required, then you can safely use the stationary Companion, part # BWRVK3710.

• If your 5th wheel uses a rotating pin box like the Reese Revolution/Sidewinder or the Lippert Turning point, the
fixed # BWRVK3710 hitch can be used along with the required wedge. For the Reese Sidewinder/Revolution,
use # SWW-06 or for the Lippert Turning Point, use # LC79UD.

If your 5th wheel doesn't meet the two parameters listed above, you'll need to use the # BWRVK3775 sliding version.
