Trailer Hitch Receiver And Wire Harness For 2016 Tesla Model X

Question:

Hello, I would like to install the trailer hitch to my 2016 Model X. Currently we do not have a factory trailer hitch so the vehicle does not come with tow mode. Is this going to be a problem? What would I need to buy so I can install some sort of stowaway hitch ? Thanks so much

We have all you need right here, you can see the items that fit your model X below:

**Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 76143.
*ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT.

The 2016 Tesla Model X can tow up to 5,000 pounds unless it has the optional 22 inch wheels, if you have those your towing capacity will be reduced to 3,500 pounds. The Draw-tite hitch has a max trailer weight of 5,000 pounds so it will match your Model X in capacity, just don't exceed the 3,500 pound limit if you have the 22s.

The Draw-Tite is the only hitch receiver available for the 2016 Model X and it will be somewhat visible.

You will need the Heavy duty ModuLite circuit protected wire harness too, I recommend having a professional install this for you.

Tow mode on a tesla means that it can free roll to be put on a flat bed truck. This will not be needed for your intended application.
Trailer mode is what you need to be able to tow a trailer and the Model X will automatically detect and level the suspension for you once a trailer is connected. If you have any issues with that you can see your local Tesla dealer to get this rectified.
