Best Lock For B&W 5th Wheel Hitch Head

Question:

I have a B&W 5th wheel hitch. I need a locking saddle pin to deter theft. B&W no longer makes their RVXA3106. Is there a substitute or a big long padlock with a 7/16 shackle?

While there isn't a replacement pin lock or padlock that will work, B&W has told us the best way to lock the hitch head is by using a cable lock. For that I recommend an adjustable cable lock:

- Python Adjustable Cable Lock # 8419DPF

The reason I like the Python lock is because it lets you adjust the locking mechanism to the length you want to tighten it around the hitch so there is no slack. The lock is also heavy-duty, made with 5/16" diameter braided steel designed specifically to resist getting cut off. You can wrap the cable lock around the head and the base and tighten it for the best anti-theft deterrent for your hitch.
