Do the legs on this model adjust like the same size with a strut ?

Yes, the MORryde StepAbove RV Steps # MR28RR will work the same way as the version # MR85RR that has the strut assist. The only difference is that you either have a totally manual lift or you get the strut assist to make moving the steps up and down easier.

The pins that insert into the hinge at the base of the MORryde StepAbove Strut Assist #MR85RR can insert from the middle pointing towards the outside like you are asking about which would get around the clearance issue you have.
