How Many Individual Fuse Taps are Supplied with Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit # F2526
Question:
I was just trying to figure out how many of these kits I will need to order. I am wanting to install a backup camera, and it looks like there are 3 wires that need to be routing into my fuse box. I think at least 2 of these wires will need to be tapped into my circuits. I wasnt sure if this kit only gave enough parts for 1 circuit or if there might be more in the kit.

The Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit, part # F2526, includes one fuse tap and three values of fuse, 10- 20- and 30-amp. The number of these kits you will need to install your backup camera system depends on where in the vehicle wiring you will be getting your reverse light signal (which activates the system).
You will need at least one fuse tap to obtain 12V power for the backup camera system. You can use any circuit in the fuse box that is ignition-controlled, such as the radio circuit. The linked video shows how to install a fuse tap kit.
If you can obtain a reverse light signal at one of the taillight assemblies, you will not need a second fuse tap. You may want to use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to help identify the wire at the taillight assembly that carries voltage only when the reverse lights are on. This wire will connect to the camera system to trigger its activation when the vehicle is shifted into reverse gear. The other option to obtain the reverse light signal is to tap into the reverse light fuse circuit in the fuse box, if there is one so labeled.
If you are using for example the K-Source Vision System, part # KSVS-8, the three wires from this system connect as follows: the white wire connects to the reverse light circuit; the red wire connects to an ignition-controlled 12V power circuit (such as the radio fuse circuit); and the black ground wire connects to a clean unpainted metal chassis surface or to an existing ground terminal.
