SumoSpring or Timbren for 5x8 Karavan Utility Trailer

Question:

Hello, I am looking for some bump/jounce stops for my 5x8 Karavan Utility Trailer that has a 2241 carrying capacity. I use it to haul a truck camper please see pictures that weighs around 1,000 lbs plus a few other items for around a 1,200 load. I want to protect my camper from harsh bumps and jostling so want something that will cushion the ride a little more. I have overslung leaf springs so only have around 3 1/2 to 4 inches of clearance between frame and leaf spring. What would you recommend to provide a more cushioned ride for my cargo? Thanks

For your application I recommend checking out the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # TSS-107-40 because they are designed for an overslung leaf spring setup and SumoSprings tend to offer more forgiving support so it's more comfortable. This kit is rated for 3K - 5K axles and is 5" tall but SumoSprings has told us in the past that if one of their springs are too tall it's perfectly okay to cut it to the height you need and that won't affect the performance of the spring.

Your photos didn't come through but this suspension kit should work great for your application. The only other option for just a cushion like this is the Timbren Kit # TTRA1702 but it is for applications where the leaf springs are under the axle.
