Brake Lights and Turn Signals Not Working on Trailer With Tekonsha 7-Way Harness On 2020 Ascent
Question:
I just installed this 7 pin vehicle end wiring and when I plug it in to my camper, My trailer brake controller works and the black wire is powering my campers accessories but when I push the brakes it doesn’t light up my campers brake lights or when I put on my turn signal it is not working. Any ideas as to why this would occur? I have triple checked my connections and placement of the wires in the back side of the 7way. My Subaru had factory wire harnesses.

It sounds like there may be a damaged or missing fuse on your 2020 Subaru Ascent. I recommend checking your fuse panel for any damaged or missing fuses that are identified as trailer or turn signal fuses. You can also test the wiring going into the powered module for signal with a Circuit Tester # PTW2993. This will help you to determine if the module on the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118290 is faulty or if you are not getting the signal from the Ascent that tells the lights to activate.
The yellow, green and red wires going into the module will be for the turn signals and brake lights on the harness.
