Why Wont Powertrac Brake Controller Function in 2019 Ram 1500
Question:
Hi, I need help toubleshooting an electric brake controller problem. I have a Tekonsha Powertrac controller and am placing it on a 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn. I connected it and the manual slider applies my trailer brake, but my vehicle brake petal will not. My electronic stability control will shut off and not let the brake controller work. The only time my brake petal will operate the electric brake controller is when I push the brake petal to start my truck. Thanks

The problem is that your 2019 Ram 1500 uses a multiplex stoplight circuit which your current brake controller can't understand when you are applying the brakes. Basically you need a new controller that is approved for use with the wiring of your truck like the P2 # 90885 which will install in your truck using the same # 3024-P harness you have. The type of wiring that your truck has now is called "powernet."
