Helpful Expert Reply:
For mounting the Curt A16 Hitch # C16120 on your 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD, you need industry-standard rails on your bed. For this route, I recommend the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch - Ford and Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # C88KR. These rails are designed specifically to use with the Curt A16 as well as the factory pucks on your Sierra 2500HD.
However, it is important to note that since you have a short bed, a sliding hitch is recommended if you do not have a rotating pinbox on the trailer. This is to decrease the probability of the nose of the trailer making contact with the cab when turning. With that being said, you can add the sliding mechanism to your Curt A16 with the Curt R16 Round Tube Slider for E16 and A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # C16560.
