The Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 you were recommended is only for transferring your motorhome's turning and brake signals to the rear of your 2008 Chevy Aveo. Flat towing a vehicle isn't the same as towing a trailer so you can't just use a normal brake controller to activate the brakes in your Aveo, a supplemental braking system is required instead.

You'll have two choices when it comes to the systems; either a permanently installed system or a portable system that will require a little bit of setup every time you need to tow your vehicle. Since your Aveo is older and small car I recommend going with a portable system so that if you swap your car out down the road you don't have to rebuy an entire system and can just swap in the portable system. Permanently installed systems can also take up a lot of space and would always been in the way as well.

For this I recommend the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524. This system offers intense, emergency braking or steady, smooth braking in a single portable system. Easily switch between proportional or full braking from the cab of your motorhome using the remote. The included charge line kit will keep your Aveo's battery charged while you tow.

To flat tow your Aveo you'll also need a tow bar, base plate, and safety cables. If you haven't already purchased these items then I have the following recommendations for you below:

Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates # e47ZR. This tow bar is specifically designed to fit Blue Ox base plates. It features non-binding latches and telescoping, self supporting arms that make connecting and disconnecting your Aveo on any terrain a breeze. It has an adjustable head that tilts up or down 3" and the shank has a built-in 1-1/2" rise or drop to keep tow bar parallel with road while towing without the use of a high/low hitch adapter. It also comes with safety cables included.

Base Plate: Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1687. This base plate kit has removable arms to provide a clean factory look for your Aveo when you aren't towing.

Safety Cables: Since the # e47ZR has safety cables included you won't need to purchase any separately.
