B&W Turnover Ball Underbed System and Companion 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty
Question:
Greetings, I have a 2005 F350 Crew SRW LB. I would like to install a puck system similar to what the newer models offer from the factory. I have found prior articles on your website that reference Reese RP30073, but attempts at researching that are coming up empty. Im thinking maybe its been discontinued? My first choice would be to have something that is compatible with the Ford OEM puck+goose setup, keeping my options for which actual 5th wheel I decide on fairly open. If Reese has stopped making anything like that, and no one else has stepped up to do so, then Im willing to explore other options. I just really want to get a system that is below the bed. I only NEED 5th wheel, but I would like to gain the gooseball option in this process if I can. Please advise, thanks!

I have a solution for you that will give you an underbed system for your 2005 F-350 Super Duty and provide you with a gooseball option. However, the Reese RP30073 system is obsolete and discontinued so you won't be able to add a universal puck system.
I recommend the Custom Underbed Installation Kit for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches item # BWGNRK1108-5W. This system has a gross towing weight of 30,000 lbs and a vertical load limit of 7,500 lbs. With the Turnoverball you get the best of both worlds. When you go to tow a gooseneck trailer, the Turnoverball creates a sturdy, dependable connection with your trailer. And when you're done towing, you can stow the ball upside down in the hitch to get full bed access and a clean appearance.
The Turnoverball system provides complete truck bed access when you're not towing and is an anchor point for the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch item # BWRVK3500-5W. The Companion is the best 5th wheel hitch in the business. It has 1" thick dual jaws that provide 360-degree jaw-to-king-pin contact. This results in less rattle and more security than slide-bar jaws.
The B&W Companion weighs over 200 lbs. If that's not something you're interested in moving by yourself and don't want to have to rely on someone to help you then I recommend purchasing the B&W 5th Wheel Lifting Device for Companion and Patriot Hitches item # BWRVXA3130. This heavy duty steel tool lets you lift your B&W 5th-wheel hitch from your truck bed with a hoist. The 5th-Wheel jaws clamp around the device for a secure grip.
Don't forget your lube plate. The Lube Plate for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 10" Diameter item # RP83002 will prevent scratches on your fifth-wheel's skid plate and ease trailer hookup.
To make towing with a gooseneck and 5th wheel easier I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 10' Long item # C56000 to your F-350. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient.
I have linked a few installation videos for these parts so you can follow along with the process and see what the final product will look like.
