Can The Gen-Y Stacked Receivers Be Used To Carry A Bike Rack And Tow A Trailer

Question:

I am interested in the Gen-Y GH504. I want to tow my trailer and add a bike rack. I hear that adding a hitch extender cuts your tongue weight rating in half. This product adds some distance and acts like an extender in a way. I contacted Gen-Y and an engineer there says that their product does not lower tongue weight rating. Is this true? It seems physics would argue otherwise. Thoughts? Thx

What Gen-Y said is correct, and this is the best solution for a problem like yours. The Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 7-1/2" Drop/Rise - 16K # 325-GH-504 will not reduce your tongue weight capacity at all.

It has a gross towing weight of 16,000 lbs and max tongue weight of 2,000 lbs. Keep in mind, you will be limited by the lowest capacity of your setup which is likely your vehicle or trailer hitch receiver. Also, you can use any of the Gen-Y stacked receivers as long as it is not the Gen-Y Rebel.

I have attached a review video along with a link to all of the Gen-Y shanks if you need a different rise/drop.
