Trailer Hitch, Ball Mount, Balls, Wiring, and a Bike Rack for a 2013 Honda Accord

Question:

Is it possible to put a 2inch trailer hitch receiver on a 2013 Honda Accord? I see in some of the videos where a 1.25 hitches are used. I just wanted to know if it is possible to go bigger. I have a bike rack that holds 4 bikes at one time that fits a 2 inch receiver and I also have a small single axle trailer that I use to pull when I had my Dodge Dakota.

All of the trailer hitches for the 2013 Honda Accord are Class I trailer hitches with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. This is based on the abilities of the vehicle. Two inch trailer hitches are not available. Because there are only Class I trailer hitches available, see link, you will be limited to carrying 2 bikes at most and will need to use a bike rack that is compatible with a Class I trailer hitch.

For a trailer hitch, since you have indicated you may be towing, I recommend Curt model # C11496. The recommended ball mount, pin, and clip is # 3593. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation for you to view. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. For trailer wiring if the vehicle has LED tail lights use # C59496. If it does not have LED tail lights use # 118596.

Be sure to consult the owners manual on the towing capacity of your Accord so you do not exceed its capacities.

For a bike rack I recommend the Swagman Titan, # S63400, since it is Class I compatible, holds 2 bikes, and has an integrated cable lock and a rise in the shank for additional ground clearance. I have included a link to a video review of this rack for you.

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical mens bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I linked a video showing how the adapter works.
