The Reese Multi-Tow 7-way and 4-pole connector # 74682 will plug into a factory installed connection if your truck was previously equipped with a 7-way. This is intended to replace the vehicle side connector on your truck.

If your truck was equipped with a 7-way the factory connection point will be located on the driver's side on the frame rail between the rear tires and bumper. I have included a photo showing this location for you.

If your truck does not have a 7-way but does have a 4-pole you can use the # 37185 to complete a 7-way installation by connecting the 4-pole and connecting the other wires function to function according to the helpful article that I have linked below. To do this make sure that you connect the correct wires by function, using a circuit tester like part PTW2993 may be helpful for identifying the functions needed.

You will need to identify the function on your truck that supplies the 12V power and connect this to the black wire on the # 37185 connector using the supplied connector. Then you will identify the wire on your truck that supplies the brake signal and connect that to the blue wire on the # 37185 connector. The purple wire on the # 37185 will connect to the reverse light circuit on your truck. The white wire will be grounded to a proper metal surface on your truck (typically on the truck frame).

If your truck does not have an existing 4-pole either, then you can use the # 18252 to establish a 4-pole then use the # ETBC7 to complete the 7-way connection on your 2005 Ford F-250. To complete the functional 7-way you will also have to install a 40 am circuit breaker in-line for the 12V power supply to the 7-way vehicle connection. This circuit breaker is included with the # ETBC7 installation kit. To complete the installation of the 7-way you will also have to install a brake controller using the wiring under the dash near the brake pedals. If you happen to be installing this 7-way because you need to be towing a trailer with brakes and you need a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885.

I have included a couple of helpful articles demonstrating the installation of both the # 37185 and the # ETBC7 installations for you, as well as several videos that might help you out.
