Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2022 Subaru Ascent Premium
Question:
I have a 2022 Subaru Ascent Premium and I am planning to add a hitch to it. I would like one that goes behind the bumper if possible. Please let me know what is available and what I should get. I appreciate the help.

I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e55ZR for your 2022 Subaru Ascent Premium. This Class III hitch has a 2" receiver and is completely hidden when the center bumper cover is attached. It has a maximum gross trailer weight of 5,000 lbs, tongue weight of 750 lbs, and is compatible with weight distribution. It features a rugged, matte black finish for rust and corrosion protection and is made in the USA.
If you plan on doing some towing and need wiring, you will also want the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118290. This plugs directly into existing wiring and will provide you with a 7-way connection at the back of your vehicle. This would also allow you to tow a trailer with brakes unlike the # 118790. If you needed a 4-way connection you can use an adapter like the # PK12716
In order to complete your setup you will also need a ball mount. Check out the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit has two ball mounts, one with a 3/4" rise or 2" drop and the other with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. It also comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.
I have attached some review and installation videos for your reference.
