Bike Rack Recommendation for 5 Bikes and Growing Family

Question:

I just bought and installed a 2 inch hitch mount for my 2014 dodge durango, purchased from etrailer super easy install, love it. I plan to purchase a 5 bike hitch mounted rack to go with it and am looking for guidance. Similar reviews for Curt/Yakima/Thule... which is good in that they all seem decent, but bad because I dont really know which to chose? Also I have 3 growing kids with maturing bike size needs, how do I know how many of each solutions cross bars I want or need? Do your experts have a favorite or a more 1 to 1 pros and cons list? Thank you,

My recommendation for carrying 5 bikes with the 2" hitch on your 2014 Dodge Durango is the Yakima FullTilt 5 Bike Rack # Y02463 for a few different reasons; it comes with locks for the bikes and rack, the anti-rattle and hitch pin configuration is tool-free and extremely easy to use, and best of all the cradles/straps for securing the bikes are adjustable along the arms which means you have some freedom of movement to help your bikes fit better.

The other Yakima, Thule, and Hollywood Racks bike racks are good as well but when you consider longevity and the different bike sizes I know you'll be happiest with the FullTilt. Don't go with the Curt - they specialize in great towing products but typically have cheap bike racks that are only good for the convenience of having a bike rack.

Attached is a review video of the FullTilt on a 2013 Durango for you to check out! Please note that a lot of kids bikes and some adult bikes that lack a horizontal top tube will need an adapter bar like part # Y02531 as well so that they fit and/or sit level on the arms of the rack.
