Recommended Wire Gauge For 30 Amp SmartPlug Inlet And Connector

Question:

I asked two questions. One he did not answer at all. The other, was out in left field somewhere. Can someone please tell me if these plug ends will work with 8 gauge wire? Im not asking advice about my electrical needs.

I spoke with the manufacturer of the SmartPlug RV and Marine Power Inlet and Connector # SM67FR and for your application they actually recommend using 6 AWG wire to properly supply your RV with power from the shore power pedestal.

SmartPlug sells their power cords in lengths of 4', 25', or 50' so there is no set wire gauge for a 30amp 30' power cord. Because you want to run the cable 30' to the SmartPlug RV and Marine Power Inlet and Connector # SM67FR you would need to use 6AWG wire to prevent a voltage drop. You can use 8AWG wire but you'll likely not receive the correct voltage at a 30' length.
