2005 Ram 2500 SLT 4WD Replacement Class V Hitch
Question:
I have a 2005 Ram 2500, SLT, quad cab, short bed. It current has a factory hitch, but I want to upgrade it to a class 4 or 5. I would prefer to remove the old hitch and replace it with the new Curt hitch if possible. I prefer not to have 2 hitches on my truck. Can the OEM hitch be removed and will the Curt class 5 hitch be at the same height as the OEM?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Yes, the OEM hitch on your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT can be removed when you install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V XD - 2" item # C15409. Removing the OEM hitch will not change anything about the installation method or height of the Curt hitch. I have attached an installation video so you can see the process.
