Helpful Expert Reply:
The etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit # e98966 are compatible with etrailer, Demco, or Blue Ox branded tow bars. Of these I recommend the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e34ZR.
This tow bar features non-binding latches and telescoping, self-supporting arms that make for fast, easy hookup or removal on any terrain. It has an adjustable head that tilts up or down 3" to keep the tow bar parallel with road during towing and a shank has a built-in 1-1/2" rise or drop for additional adjustability to help prevent you from needing a high/low adapter. It also comes with safety cables included so you won't have to purchase them separately.
You'll also need a tow bar wiring kit and braking system to complete your flat towing setup on your 2018 GMC Canyon. If you haven't already purchased these items then I have the following recommendations for you:
Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode kit allows you to use your Canyon's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV. This kit will come with a 6-way socket for your Canyon as well as an adapter cable to go from the vehicle to the motorhome.
Since you'll have to disconnect the negative battery cable on your Canyon to flat tow I recommend also installing the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System # RM-766. This will allow you to quickly and easily disconnect the battery without having to physically remove the cable.
Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # HM39524. This system offers intense, emergency braking or steady, smooth braking in a single portable system. Easily switch between proportional or full braking from the cab of your motorhome using the included remote. The included charge line kit will keep your Canyon's battery charged while you tow as well.
