How to Charge a Trailer Battery Through a 7-Way Connector
Question:
I just bought an enclosed trailer equipped with interior lights and exterior flood lights. Id like to hook a battery to it or a tender when its disconnected from the truck so we have power. What are your recommendations?

If you have a 7-way you would need to run the 12-volt power circuit of the 7-way to the positive side of the battery of the trailer and you would be good to go. This will put a light charge on the battery whenever the trailer is connected to your tow vehicle.
You should note that this method would not charge a dead battery but basically just help keep the battery topped off.
If you have a 4-way on your vehicle now and are looking for something to convert it to a 7-way the 4 Pole to 7 Pole Adapter # 30717 would work, but for a kit with absolutely everything you would need for a fully functional 7-way you would want the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This comes with everything including all the circuit breakers you would need to complete the install.
I attached installation instructions for the # ETBC7 and an install video for you to check out also.
