Thule OutWay Platform TH65JV fit on 2013 Hyundai Sonata and 2008 Nissan Quest
Question:
Thinking about buying one of these Thule Platform th65jv racks that a friend of mine currently owns. I have read some reviews regarding some bumper damage on sedans due to the weight. Please let me know the likelihood of this occurring on a brand new 2013 Hyundai Sonata and 2008 Nissan Quest - both vehicles will possibly have this rack attached at times. Thanks!

Honestly I do not recommend the Thule OutWay # TH65JV just because of the weight and damage it has caused other vehicles. Especially on a brand new vehicle such as your 2013 Hyundai Sonata.
Thule makes excellent racks, but this one was not executed well. Some people have used this rack without problems but I never feel safe recommending it just because of that risk.
For a much better Thule trunk mounted bike rack that will work on both vehicles and work very well check out the Thule OutWay Trunk Mounted bike rack # TH45JV. This is one of the best racks on the market because of how easy it is to install and un-install and how well it secures to vehicles. Check out the review video I attached.
If you plan on carrying any women's or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Thule Bike Adapter Bar # TH982XT to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
