Most Economical Flat Tow Package For a 2010 Chevrolet HHR
Question:
What is the most economical tow bar and tow bar installation package available for 2010 Chevy HHR

I recommend the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 3141-1 as being the most economical for your 2010 Chevrolet HHR(Non-SS Trim). The baseplate height of this kit is 15-1/2" with 215/70R17 tire size. This is important to compare with the receiver height on your tow vehicle. You want it to be within 3" or you will need to use a High-Low Adapter like # RM-048-4 that will raise or lower the tow bars by 4". If you need help finding the correct adapter, let me know your tire size on the HHR and your receiver height.
This baseplate will allow you to use the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e44ZR. I always recommend at minimum getting a non-binding tow bar as often times when you stop the ground is never perfectly level and a non-binding tow bar is much easier to disconnect.
The Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Lights # TL21RK will allow you to simply place them on the body work to have tail lights. A 20' wiring harness will cover the length of your HHR.
The Brake Buddy Stealth Supplemental Braking System # HM39530 will ensure you stay legal when flat towing your HHR. This system is controlled with a brake controller that is included with the braking system. It also has a charge line that will ensure that you do not drain the batter on your HHR.
Finally you will need to remove the IGN SWITCH 8 PASSKEY III+ fuse from your floor console fuse box before towing and reinstall the fuse before operating your HHR. If you would rather not have to remove the fuse every time you can use the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass # RM76511 that will allow you to just flip a switch when you are ready to tow and flip it back when you disconnect the HHR.
