Recommended Suspension Enhancement For A 2022 Ram 1500 Lone Star 4x2
Question:
Just got the new truck see subject for description....will be pulling my travel trailer and wondering if I should enhance suspension and if so, with which product. Trailer is 2021 Winnebago Micro Minnie 2306BHS dry weight 4,500 lbs, tongue weight 450lbs. Will be using weight distribution hitch....any suggestions? Ive heard that if truck has factory-installed air assist in the suspension then that will effect what can be used aftermarket for enhancement. I dont have a clue if this truck has that...when I look at the info I have it simply says multi-link for rear suspension...thanks!

The Limited trim level is the only one that comes standard with the Active-Level suspension system. It is possible you do have it with your 2022 Ram 1500 Lone Star edition but it is an add-on that would've been an additional cost and most likely came with some paperwork explaining it when you purchased the truck. You can reach out to the dealer with your VIN to know for sure. That being said you could still use a weight distribution hitch even if you did have it.
You'll just need to hook up the trailer with the vehicle running and let it auto level (if it has that feature in the air springs) then set up the weight distribution.
If you do not have the Active-Level suspension system then I do recommend suspension enhancement with the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-307-47. The Timbren # TDR1500DS you were looking at are known to cause a very stiff ride when not loaded.
These helper springs have a simple, no-drill installation to keep your vehicle level when you're towing or hauling a heavy load, help to absorb bumps and shocks, and minimize sway. They have a progressive load control design, meaning that the springs compress according to the weight of your cargo. For lighter loads the springs compress easily at first for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride and for heavier loads the springs compress by as much as 80 percent for support.
If you don't already have a weight distribution hitch then I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0600. This hitch has two points of steel-on-steel friction work to prevent and correct trailer sway in this weight distribution system. Sway control brackets help to ensure that your trailer stays in line with your tow vehicle. An adjustable shank is included to keep the hitch level between your trailer and Ram.
For A 2" ball you can use part # EQ91-00-6080 or part # EQ91-00-6100 for 2-5/16" hitch ball.
