Hitch Receiver for Towing a Lawn Mower Trailer w/ a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu
Question:
I have a small trailer 50 wide x 72 long, weight about 400 lbs. I need a class 111 hitch to fit a 2019 Chevolet Malibu, single exhaust. I use this trailer to move my lawn mower from one of my properties to another and pick up flowers and fertilizer. Personal only. I have this trailer set up for a class 111 which I feel more comfortable with. Let me know what you have. Bolt on preferred.

I have a solution for you but there are no class III hitches available for your 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C12185. This is a custom fit, class II hitch, that bolts on with included hardware. It has a towing capacity that exceeds your Malibu's 1,000 lbs towing limit, so it being a class II hitch does not affect its ability to serve your needs. You should always go off of the component with the lowest towing capacity and in this case it will be your car not the hitch.
You will want to use the Curt Towing Starter Kit item # C45147. This kit includes a 1 1/4" ball mount and a 2" ball.
We have two options for wiring harness depending on whether or not your Malibu is the Premier model. Both are made by Tekonsha who have the best and most reliable wiring harnesses in the business. They will plug in behind your rear tail lights to provide you with a 4-flat vehicle connector to control your lawn mower trailer's lighting functions.
For the Malibu Premier you will want the item # C56313
For the standard Malibu you will want the item # C56387
