How To Wire In Solar Controller To Vehicle Battery
Question:
I have a small cargo van with a solar setup to charge an auxilliary battery within the trailer. The solar charge controller an EPEver Duo Racer 30A can simultaneously charge the tow vehicles starter battery according to certain parameters within the controller. I guess the controller handles everything related to what is delivered to the tow battery, and when. My question is: what is the best way to connect the charge controller to the vehicle starter battery. Directly to the battery terminal? Somehow I doubt it. Also, I want to make it easy to connect/disconnect the trailer from this wiring, so, I bought a 3-pin plug set. Any advice on wiring this up? I mean, I guess one of the pins is positive. And would the negative also need to be connected or could this just be grounded to the trailer body or something? Im so technically-challenged when it comes to electrics, it probably isnt funny. Im learning though:-

I recommend using a 40 amp in line circuit breaker # 9510, along with # 10-1-1 to make your connection. In order to not drain your battery, I recommend also, to use an isolation solenoid # PK5231201.
You will need an ignition controlled circuit to activate the solenoid, I recommend using the radio circuit to do this. You will need a fuse tap # F2526 to activate the switching function on this circuit.
Unfortunately, we do not offer any controllers like this so you will need to refer to your owner's manual or reach out to the manufacturer of the controller.
