If your 2002 Dodge Durango did not come with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector then you will need to hardwire in a brake controller. There are 3 parts you will need: 1) a 4-Way trailer wiring harness (unless the Durango already has a 4-Way) # 118334. 2) a 4- and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7. And 3) a brake controller. I have included some links that explain this type of installation for you.
If your Durango does have a factory 7-Way then the plug should be present under the dash. The harness will be located underneath the dash and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. There will be a 4-pin connector that mates with the one on the adapter.
For a brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885, because it is reliable, easy to set up and easy to use. If you do have the 7-Way connector and the factory port to plug in a brake controller then you will also need wiring harness # 3020-P. I have linked instructions and a video for you.
