No, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C45CR is a simple bolt-on design that will utilize the factory holes in the frame of your 2022 Toyota Highlander LE. I've attached a video below where Ryan will walk you through the installation process of this hitch to give you a much clearer picture of what is required.
If you're planning on towing then you'll also need a trailer wiring harness, for this I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # TK99FR. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the trim panel near the driver's side rear seat belt bracket. You will have to pull back the side trim panel to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket like # 18144 with #18140 is recommended to keep the connector secure.
For a great starter ball mount kit I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 7,500lbs # 989900. It has a 1-7/8" hitch and 2" hitch ball to allow you to tow multiple trailers. It has a 1" or 3" rise and a 2" or 4" drop to keep your trailer level while towing.
