Your 2013 Chevrolet Equinox uses a type 921 backup light bulb. The Hopkins product you reviewed, part # HM20101VA, is a replacement for the type 3156 bulb. My contact at Hopkins advises that they do not offer an audible alarm replacement bulb for the 921 type.

I also checked with two other suppliers of aftermarket lighting products, Putco and Optronics, and neither of these suppliers offers a 921 replacement bulb with alarm.

However, we do offer the Custer Surface Mount Back-up Alarm, part # BK97DB, which wires into your Equinox reverse light circuit with two connections. This alarm can mount to the underside of the bumper or other location of your choice. It will produce a 97-decibel alarm when activated.

Identify the wire to either tail light assembly that carries the reverse signal. (If you wish you can use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to confirm the wire that carries this voltage.) Cut this wire and use a butt connector like # DW05714 to splice together a new length of wire long enough to reach your preferred mounting location and the other end of the wire you cut (the end that leads to the light assembly). Crimp and seal with electrical tape. Connect the new length of wire to the positive terminal of the alarm using a ring terminal like # 44-5310A. Apply ring terminals to both ends of another length of wire and connect one to the alarm negative post and the other end to the vehicle frame (or to an existing ground point).
