What All Is Needed To Convert A 2021 Tandem 7k Axle Grand Design Momentum 5th Wheel To Disc Brakes?
Question:
Since the camping season has come to an end, I want to get our 2021 Grand Design Momentum 349M 5th Wheel toy hauler converted over to disc brakes. The electric brakes just aren't cutting it. This has two 7,000 pound axles, both with brakes, so what all do I need to make this happen? And will my Tekonsha P3 controller be able to handle the new set up? Thanks in advance.

To get your 2021 Grand Design Momentum 349M 5th Wheel toy hauler converted over to disc brakes, it will require a few parts. This is a pretty common upgrade for toy haulers though, so we definitely have everything you need. With that said, I have all the part numbers as well as quantities for everything you will need below.
Qty.1 - HydraStar Electric-Hydraulic Actuator w/ Line Kit for Disc Brakes - 1,600 psi # CAR-HBA16-2
Qty.2 - Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 13" Hub/Rotor - 8 on 6-1/2 - Raw Finish - 7,000 lbs # K2HR712
Qty.4 - Replacement Trailer Hub Bearing # 14125A
Qty.4 - Replacement Trailer Hub Bearing # 25580
Qty.2 - Grease Seals 10-36 (pair) # RG06-070
The HydraStar # CAR-HBA16-2 actuator kit comes with all the needed lines and brackets, so nothing else will be needed to complete the set up. However, a junction box makes wiring all this up significantly easier and the Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box # 277-000141 comes with a 10 foot long 7 Way wire already attached to it, so it is a very nice addition.
Your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 will also have absolutely no problem working with a set up like this. It is rated to be used with up to 8 brakes (4 axles) and has no issues working with an electric-over-hydraulic system. So you are definitely good to go with that controller.
