How Loud Is The Everchill RV Mini Refrigerator

Question:

Im looking for a mini fridge preferably with small freezer to put in my DIY camper van. The Everchill RV Mini Refrigerator - 4.5 Cu Ft - 115V - Black Item # 324-000109 looks like it will be a good fit. My only question is the noise level. This is a small van Ford Transit Connect and Ill be sleeping about 3 feet away from it, so: a How quiet is it? I saw that the 12 V model was rated 32-45 dB. Is this comparable? b If its too loud, would it be OK to turn it off during sleep time, say 8 or so hours, and then restart first thing in the morning? Obviously, there would be a loss of coolness and I would suspect ice would melt. But would it hurt the unit to do this? Your website is very informative, well-organized and helpful!

The average mini fridge is 32 to 47 decibels. The average library is 40 decibels so even with a model that is slightly louder you won't be that far above a library conversation.

You can technically unplug the Everchill RV Mini Refrigerator - 4.5 Cu Ft - 115V - Black # 324-000109 overnight but any food stored inside it will be at risk of spoiling. After two hours anything inside will begin to warm up and spoil causing potential health issues to anyone trying to consume it.

I recommend putting it on a level floor mat and make sure the legs themselves are level. Then you can sound proof behind the unit with a Hushmat or Dynamat. Or you could build a shelving unit around it to absorb the extra noise. It will take up some space but it adds shelves and more mass to absorb the noise and vibrations.

Also make sure you leave at least 1-2 inches of air space behind the unit for ventilation. If its not properly venting then it will work harder and be louder.
