Question:

magic tilt TALS 2252 coupler replacement I replaced the axles on the referenced trailer. the boat I own is light for this trailer and I did not put brakes on one of the axles as it originally had. I need to remove the PG1088 coupler that came on it with a standard straight coupler with no brake actuator. what do you recommend on a 3x4inch tongue?

We have many standard straight tongue couplers that will fit your 3 inch x 4 inch trailer tongue. I have attached a link to all of our straight tongue couplers for you to check out. You can simply select the weight capacity that you need and the hitch ball size to choose the correct coupler.

One coupler you may be interested in is the Fulton Fast-Lok Coupler, # F346000301. This coupler uses a 2 inch hitch ball, has a 6,000 lb weight capacity and will fit on your 3 inch wide tongue. It can also be bolted to the frame and does not require welding.

From the information I could find on your PG1088 coupler, it could be bolted or welded to your trailer. If it is bolted, then it should be easy to remove. If it is welded, then it will have to be cut off. Once you have the old coupler removed, you can weld or bolt on a new standard coupler.
