Will Curt Trailer Hitch from a 2010 Toyota RAV4 Fit a 2013 Toyota RAV4

Question:

I am switching from a 2010 RAV4 to the 2013 RAV4. I have a 1 1/4inch trailer hitch for my bike rack on the 2010 vehicle. Do you know if it will fit the 2013 RAV4 or will I need to buy a new rack? I also saw a message that said when a bike rack was used with the hitch that stabilizer straps were needed. Whats that? Thanks, I appreciate the answer!

If you have Curt trailer hitch # C12108 then it will fit a 2013 Toyota RAV4. You will need to replace the mounting hardware though because it is designed for permanent installation. Use # RHK, enter the hitch number and manufacturer where indicated on the product page and the correct hardware will be assembled.

Curt Class I and II and some Class III trailer hitches do require the use of a stabilization strap for non-trailer loads like bike racks. The strap in questions is # 18050. What it does is provide extra support which relieves some of the stress on the hitch. I have linked a video showing how it works.

The use of the strap is part of Curts warranty requirements.

If you need trailer wiring for the 2013 RAV4 it will require a different harness because the harness for a 2010 will not fit a 2013 model. You would need to use # 118578.
