Using a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 to Tow 40 Foot Keystone Destination Trailer

Question:

Can you legally tow a 40 foot destination trailer with a crew cab long bed truck? I have a 2016 long bed Sierra 3500 and am looking to pull a destination trailer that’s 40 feet which is a pull behind trailer.

You will need to consult laws and regulations in your area for that information. However, I am unaware of any law that would prevent you from towing that trailer. I do suggest you ensure that you have a properly equipped tow vehicle to do this safely, including a Weight Distribution System. Something such as the Curt TruTrack, # C17501 for a 2" x 2" trailer hitch receiver that is rated for use with weight distribution systems. This has a 2-5/16" Ball included. Or, the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control, # EQ64FR for a truck with a 2-1/2" receiver. This too has a 2-5/16" Ball included.
