Since you already have a 4-way setup on your 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon, the 7-way wiring harness you need is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7. This 7-way will prep your Outback for installing a brake controller.
As far as the brake controller itself, I recommend the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 or the Curt Echo # C51180. Both of these controllers are proportional controllers which means that the controller activates the trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. The Voyager is more of a traditional-style controller than requires mounting into the dashboard of your vehicle near the steering wheel. You also have the option to add the simple plug-in harness # 20127 when using the Voyager. On the other hand, the Curt Echo allows you to control the settings of your controller with the ease of your Smart device.
