Green LED Light On Hopkins Brake Force Trailer Brake Controller Is Always On
Question:
I just bought a used truck with a Brake Force Controller installed in it. The number on the back of it is 02026. It has a green light that is always oneven when the truck is locked for the night. When I press the brake pedal the light turns to orange and get brighter as I apply the brakes. Is it normal for the green light to be continuously on? or was it wired wrong when initially installed?

That version of your Hopkins Brake Force controller is obsolete and I am unable to locate any manuals for it. The new version of the Brake Force does not have a Green LED light that stays on. You can verify if there is a wiring issue by checking the wiring to the brake controller and from the brake controller to the 7-way to determine if it is shorting to ground or other wiring in the system. Or if it was installed incorrectly.
You can replace you controller with a Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160. Your Ram should have a factory connection for the Pigtail # 3020-P unless it was removed by the previous owner. The factory connecter will be bundled up with other wires behind the dash above the throttle pedal.
