What Hitch Receiver Will Fit On My 2011 Crown Vic

Question:

Hello, please excuse stupid question, I’m looking to rent a Tow Dolly from U-Haul to tow a 1999 Acura interga with my 2011 Crown Vic, which tow hitch do I need?

I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13707. It takes about 50 minutes to install, you won't need to drill holes in the frame.

If you have dual exhaust you will need to relocate the exhaust pipe hanger to provide adequate clearance for the pipe.

Next you will need wiring, I recommend the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector
Item # C59236. This gives you the connection point to plug the 4-way from a trailer to your tow vehicle.

In regard to your wire harness I do suggest getting a Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat # 18144. Just to keep the wires safe and tucked away when not in use; So it won't get ripped out.

Next in line you will need a drawbar that is longer than standard because the receiver will sit back behind the Crown Vic's bumper. I recommend the Curt Class III Drawbar - 2" Rise - 4" Drop - 13" Long - 7,500 lbs # C45270. This will give you the extra length to safely be able to couple your trailer and hitch.

You will need a hitch pin I recommend getting an etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches - Flush - 2-5/8" Span - Chrome # e98880. This will give you a little more peace of mind if you have to leave your vehicles for a while.

Last you are going to need a hitch ball. The Uhaul tow dollies take a 1-7/8 inch or a 2 inch ball so I recommend going with the Tow Ready Interchangeable Hitch Ball Set with 1-7/8" and 2" Hitch Balls # 63802. This will make sure you can tow the dolly and give you options for towing other trailers or dollies later on.

You should also check your owner's manual to verify the towing capacity of your Crown Vic and make sure it is capable.
