SumoSprings Recommendation for a 2006 Ford Explorer Towing a Camper with Weight Distribution

Question:

I have a pull behind camper with loaded weight of around 6,000lbs max, even with the weight distribution hitch the rear end sags alot. I have vehicle as level as possible with the WDH on but the back is still riding to low for my comfort. Im worried about bottoming out, since the 2006 explorer has coil over shocks I cant put the air bag system in without ping over a grand, would you recommend using these in the rear for some added suspension help? And maybe possible in the front too? Also is it possible to double them up to really keep the sag out? I ve heard these really take the sway out of the ride when pulling heavy loads and I feel like this would make my ride alot safer. So what do you think? Recommend? I cant seem to find any replacement heavy duty springs to replace so i almost deff have to go this route. And why would ford make the max tow for this vehicle 7,500 but make the springs to weak to pull it nice and smooth? You dont have to answer that last question its just frustration lol. Thanks, Bob

The Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs # CSS-1125R would be an excellent choice for your 2006 Ford Explorer. This product should give your suspension additional support to should reduce the excessive sag you are experiencing.

I checked with SuperSprings and the do not recommend you install two of these per spring. One should be sufficient.

Some things you should also check are you need to be sure that your suspension components are in good working order and that your weight distribution system is setup correctly and would be the correct system to use for the loaded tongue weight of your setup. To determine your loaded tongue weight check out the FAQ article I attached.

Typically we recommend the front SumoSprings # CSS-1094F for vehicles with snow plows due to the additional weight those put on front suspension. In your situation I do not think they would benefit you that much. It might make your overall ride feel more stable but I do not think it would help you with your current situation.
