Options for Carrying Bike Racks When Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
Question:
do you carry front load bike racks ,as i pull a 5 wheel trailer??

Helpful Expert Reply:
We do have options for carrying bikes when towing a fifth wheel trailer, however, we do not carry any bike racks that were specifically designed to carry bikes on the front of a vehicle. Bikes mounted on the front of the vehicle can block your line of site, headlights and turn signals and the airflow to your engine. When towing a fifth wheel trailer, airflow to the engine is crucial.
When I am towing my fifth wheel trailer, I use the Swagman Bumper Mount Bike Rack, # S80501. This type of bike rack will only work if your fifth wheel trailer has a continuous welded steel bumper that is no taller than 4 inches and no wider than 4-1/2 inches. If you want to carry more than 2 bikes, you could also look at the Swagman 4 Bike Carrier, # S80600.
There are two other types of trailer bike racks you could look into. One is a ladder mount rack like the Stromberg Carlson 2 Bike Rack, # LA-102, and the other is a trailer hitch mount bike rack like the Swagman XP 4 Bike Rack, # S64940.
The trailer hitch mount bike rack would require a trailer hitch. If you are interested in this option, we do have RV trailer hitches available. The Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch, # 13703, works with C-Channel, I-Beam and Box style frames and can be bolted directly to the frame without requiring any welding.
