Supplemental Braking System Recommendation for 2020 Jeep Cherokee Towed by Motorhome w Air Brakes
Question:
What do I need to do a complete install on my 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk? Currently I have been using a brake buddy device and have had issues and want something more relaible. I was looking at the Roadmaster Brakemaster 9100 series and am also considering the Airforce one system. I have a 2019 Tiffin Allegro Red with air brakes but do not have a air tap on the back of the motorhome, so am assuming I will need to install an airtap and any additional mtorhome side parts. I am also assuming that the breakaway brake system that comes with the brake buddy install will need to be replaced. Please advise

As far as the air brake style supplemental braking systems go the Air Force One # SM99243 is one of the better options out there and would be what I would recommend. If you don't have an air tap at the rear of the motorhome you would have to install that. Or you could avoid all of the air system and go with the DUO Stay n Play part # DM86VR which instead uses an inertia sensor to detect how hard you are applying the vehicle vehicle brakes and puts a relative amount of braking pressure on the brakes. Our installers prefer this kit to the other options as it installs the easiest and overall works great.
