Best B&W Fifth Wheel Hitch Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2022 GMC 3500 SRW With Standard Bed

Etrailer pros— I’m getting opinions both ways, and I’d appreciate your help. 2022 GMC 3500 SRW standard bed and 2022 Keystone Montana High Country 385BR. I want a BandW 20K but can’t convince myself of the need for a slider due to the combo of BandW’s offset and the trailer’s cap shape. I’m trying not to make a $1100 or $1800 mistake. Thanks for your help!

If by standard, you mean that the bed of your 2022 GMC 3500 SRW is 6-1/2' long, then yes we do recommend using the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20K # BWRVK3775. The B&W Companion with Slider will ensure that you have enough clearance between your cab and trailer.

With that being said, since the pucks systems have been moved back in the bed of the GMC trucks more people are able to use the stationary B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3710.

You can use the following formula to determine if a stationary 5th wheel hitch to determine turning clearance:

(A + B) - C = Clearance
A = Distance from center of fifth wheel hitch jaw to truck cab
B = Length of slider/offset/Sidewinder
C = Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half)

You need at least 4" of clearance to be able to make a 90 degree turn.

I recommend going with the slider option because it will give you consistently give you the clearance you need.
