Helpful Expert Reply:
The Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 41929 is a Class IV, 2 Inch Hitch and confirmed to fit the 2006 Dodge Ram Pickup. This will be used to replace an OEM hitch that has been damaged, removed for whatever cause, or used to upgrade from a factory hitch with a lower rating. You can definitely choose to remove the OEM component, removal or not does not effect this hitch installation. It designed to be mounted with the OEM in place if you choose to. But yes, you are correct, that there does not appear to be a need for two in place.
