Hi, Im buying a new car BECAUSE I need the Nautic Kayak Lifter for my new 70 lb kayak. 1 Will this fit on a 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness? 2 Whats the weight of the NKL?

I have a great solution for your kayak-transporting needs. The Rhino-Rack Nautic Lifter is currently discontinued. However, Rhino-Rack does have a few different options for transporting your 70-pound kayak with the additional lift assist option as an add-on. Those options are the following:

- Rhino-Rack Nautic Roof SUP or Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs # RR570
- Rhino-Rack Nautic Roof Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs # RR571
- Rhino-Rack Nautic 581 Rear Loading Kayak Carrier # RR581

All of these systems can be used with the Rhino-Rack Universal Load Assist - Crossbar Mount # RR-RUSL. This will serve as the load assist function you need for making loading easier.

Rhino-Rack has engineered all three of these single-kayak carriers to be able to withstand the weight of a kayak up to your 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness's maximum roof weight capacity. From my initial research, I found some information saying that a 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness can withstand up to 220 pounds on a roof rack system. In order to determine the weight capacity for sure, I recommend confirming the weight with your owner's manual.

In order to use any of the Rhino-Rack carriers, you will need a crossbar system on your new car's raised factory rails. For a great compatible system, I recommend the following setup:

- Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 49" # RRVA126B-2
- Rhino-Rack SX Series Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRSX100

With this Rhino-Rack crossbar system, you will be able to use any of the three recommended kayak carriers on your vehicle in addition to the load assist. As far as a recommendation, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Nautic 581 Rear Loading Kayak Carrier # RR581 for two reasons: it is rear loading and it is compatible with the top channels of your Vortex crossbars. With these two features, it will make installation much easier because you will not have to deal with clamp screws. Also, with the rear loading, you will have a smooth loading process instead of the clunky process of trying to manage the fitment onto the cradles via side loading.
