Power to Curt 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2011 Ford Escape when Turned Off
Question:
I installed my Curt hitch and wiring today on my 2011 Ford Escape. Everything went fairly smooth, but when I went to test it, my 58260 Curt tester stays lit even when the truck is off. Is this supposed to happen? Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated

This is a common occurrence on some Curt trailer wiring harnesses such as # C56329. Normally you would not notice unless the trailer was connected and it had LED lights. Then you may get a faint glow out of the lights. Having power to the 4-Way is not going to hurt anything or run down the battery unless there is something plugged in drawing the power.
Just to be on the safe side make sure the ground is connected to a clean bare metal surface and that all the connections to the tail light wiring are secure and there are no bent pins. I have also incldued a link to an FAQ article on troubleshooting wiring that you may find helpful.
