Rock Tamers Heavy-Duty Mud Flap System Compatibility With Camco R6 Recurve Weight Distribution Hitch
Question:
I have a 2021 Ram 2500 with a 2 1/2inch receiver. My weight distribution hitch is a Camco R6 Recurve. The shank i have for this is 2 1/2inch where it enters the receiver but immediately tapers down to 2inch outside the receiver. I assume i will have to have the 2 1/2inch model to slide over the end of my shank down to the 2inch part of the shank. Question is will the 2 1/2inch size fasten down securely to the 2inch shank?

You are going to need to use the 2-1/2" Rock Tamers Heavy-Duty, Adjustable Mud Flap System # ERT00110. The only issue you may run into is the 1" clearance needed to accommodate the hub assembly. You most likely won't have enough 2-1/2" tube with clearance using the tapered shank you sent in. You'll need to use a shank that has less of a taper like the # EQ90-02-4900.
To know if you have the clearance you need to measure from the hitch pin hole to the opening edge of your receiver hitch and then add an inch for the clearance for the mud flaps. Once you know that measurement you can compare that to the available 2-1/2" shanks. The # EQ90-02-4900 has a 4" measurement from the hitch pin hole to the gusset. The gusset is most likely going to be the biggest issue for you clearance-wise.
