Do I have To Modify Any of the Panels On My 2021 Mazda CX-5 To Install the etrailer Receiver e98902?
Question:
I have a 2021 Mazda CX5 and want a receiver that is easily installed. My last car had to have a couple underbody panels that had to be cut up and I do not want to go through all that again. Will I have to cut up any panels to install the etrailer receiver on my CX5?

To install the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98902 you will not have to trim any panels on your 2021 Mazda CX-5. There is a underbody panel that may need to be removed permanently from your CX-5 but it is easily removed by pulling out the 2 plastic rivets that hold it in place. I have linked a video below that shows the panel being removed when we installed it on a 2021 Mazda CX-5.
I do recommend installing the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118746 when you have the receiver installed. This will give you a 4-way connector that will control the tail lights on most small trailers as well as allow you to use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 with any hitch mounted accessory that may block the view of your tail lights on your CX-5. This is common with most bike racks due to the size of the bikes.
The manufacturer allows for the 4-way to be stored inside your rear cargo area of your CX-5 but if you would rather run the 4-way outside the vehicle, a Curt Easy Mount Bracket # C58001 is a great way to secure the 4-way to your receiver without having to drill into your body work and use a different bracket.
