Will Lippert Electric Trailer Jack LC285318 Work With 12,500 lb Travel Trailer

Question:

Hello, I am liking this model jack but wanted to double check it will be right for our 2009 Keystone Sprinter camper, The camper weight empty is listed as 9,490 pounds. From what I have learned most tongue rates are figured at 10-15 of the total camper weight. So, even loaded, I would think this jack would work, but I wanted to make sure before I bought it. Thanks!

Smart idea to check, and the short answer is yes it will work. The longer answer is that your 2009 Keystone Sprinter travel trailer with a 9,490 lb empty weight also has a GVWR (the most it can weigh when loaded) of 12,500 lbs.

You are correct that travel trailers have tongue weights between 10 percent to 15 percent, so even the highest end of that for your Sprinter is well below the 3,500 lb capacity of the Lippert jack you asked about, which is the following part number:

- Lippert Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate # LC285318

The # LC285318 is a really nice choice for a jack as its one of the quieter ones available and also has good speed, extending half a foot in about 40 seconds. While that doesn't sound swift, in the world of jacks it's definitely a good clip.
