Recommended Replacement Axle for 6 Foot Wide Harbor Freight Trailer

Question:

Hello I am currently building a 4‘ x 8‘ harbor freight trailer and would like to extend it out to be 6‘ x 8‘ I was wondering what type of axle I would need for my trailer that uses 13” rims w a 5 lug on 4.5”.

In order to find a replacement axle for your extended harbor freight trailer you will want to measure the current axle. The length of the axle is the hub face to hub face measurement. Once you find this length you will add 2 feet to find the length you need for your new axle assuming your frame is 2 feet wider. I have attached a link for all of our axles that come with 5 on 4-1/2 idler hubs for you to check out. You will also want to match up the capacity.

If you can't find an axle with the right length, I recommend a Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System like the # A20RS545. This particular Timbren Axle-Less suspension comes with hubs that have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern and fit 13" tires. It has a weight capacity of 2,000 lbs, which is more than likely the capacity of your current axle, but you will still want to double check. Since this fits any frame width you will be able to use this with your extended trailer.
